About This Site

This site is no longer being funded by CQU.  If

you work for, or know of, an educational institution

that might be interested in funding this site,

please email me for further details.

This page lists recent changes to the web-site.  If you intend to be a regular user of the site, you might like to bookmark this page so that you can see at a glance what has changed since your last visit.

New items on each page are flagged with a marker.  Known broken links will be flagged for a short period, and then removed.

March 2007 : Central Queensland University is no longer providing funding for this site.  I am therefore looking for an alternative institution or company to provide the necessary funding (and, of course, receive due credit throughout the web site!).  The site appears very high up in many Google searches.  If your organisation is interested, please email me for further details.

August 2006:  Some new items have been added to almost all pages, and some broken links removed.  If there are items you'd like to see on this site which aren't here currently, please email us and let us know!

May 2006:  You may be interested in contributing to a new book to be published in 2007 entitled Student Plagiarism in an Online World: Cases and Solutions.  See the Call for Chapters for further details.  There are a large number of books and articles about plagiarism listed at the Assessment in Higher Education site.

January 2006: Many additions and subtractions to the site.  If you have any suggestions for improvement, please email us.  Full contact details are on the home page.

November 2005: Many more links to online articles.  Thankfully, offline articles are getting to be the exception, rather than the norm.  If there are other articles you think should be listed, please email us.

July 2005: More links added, including many more online articles.

April 2005: There is a call for chapters for  UCFV Research Review: Teaching and Learning Online

March 2005: There is a call for chapters for a new book to be entitled Designing for Networked Communications: Strategies and Development

November 2004: The conference listings have been updated, two new tools added to the software tools page, and additions made to the glossary.

October 2004: There is a call for chapters for a new book to be entitled Enhancing Learning Through Technology, and updates have been made to several pages.

September 2004: The book Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning in Higher Education has now been published, and can be ordered from amazon.com.

June 2004: We've passed the 100,000 visitors mark, and there's a new call for chapters for a book entitled Self, Peer, and Group Assessment in E-Learning due to be published in 2005.

May 2004: New updates to the site will be happening soon!  All pages are due for revision and expansion.

November 2003:  Several broken links have been repaired, there's a new call for chapters, and a new guest editorial asks: where are the books?

September 2003:  The site has moved to a new server!  Please update your bookmarks to this new site, which has the new URL of http://clp.cqu.edu.au.  The CLP stands for Collaborative Learning Project, the CQU for Central Queensland University.

July 2003:  An error affecting access to the site during late May and early June has been corrected, and many additions and modifications have been made to the Online Articles page.

May 2003:  Two new pages have been added, for institutions or companies wishing to advertise programs or courses, or job vacancies, related to online collaborative learning.  For details, please email us.

April 2003:  The web site Search facility, accessible from the button at the top of each page, is now provided by Google.  This will locate all pages containing a particular word or phrase.

March 2003:  Funding has been secured to enable maintenance of this site through 2003 and 2004.  Our first priority will to update the Online Articles page to include many more recent articles; suggestions for addition are welcomed.

February 2003:  A list of authors contributing to a new book on Online Collaborative Learning is now on the Call for Chapters page.  Some broken links have been mended, others that have defeated us have had a broken link   icon attached, and several pages have had additions.

December 2002:  I'm still in need of two more reviewers for proposed chapters for the upcoming book Online Collaborative Learning: Theory and Practice.  If you'd like to be a reviewer, please email me.

November 2002:  Updates to people and conferences!  I'm currently trying to obtain funding to guarantee maintenance of this site, including many more links to recent research papers.

August 2002:  A new guest editorial from Dianne Conrad, more conferences, more miscellanea, more articles, lots of links updated, and we've passed the 10,000 visitor mark.

July 2002:  A link to the 21st ICDE World Conference in Hong Kong has been added, the Call for Chapters has been slightly revised, and the Network for Cooperative Learning in Higher Education makes an appearance among the Primary Sites.

June 2002:  You may be interested in contributing to a new book to be published in 2003 entitled Online Collaborative Learning: Theory and Practice.  See the Call for Chapters for further details.

May 2002:  The third guest editorial features a report on the  Networked Learning 2002 Conference at the University of Sheffield, by Sheena Banks.

April 2002:  A new guest editorial appears from Pierre Dillenbourg and Daniel Scheider, of TECFA at the University of Geneva, in which they call for a break away from imitating schooling.  The two Networked Learning conferences in Berlin and Sheffield have been held - would any of the organisers (and/or attendees) like to use the Guest Editorial page to report on these, for the benefit of those of us who were unable to attend?

January 2002:  CSCL 2002 was a great success and a chance for many prominent researchers in this area to get together (the next CSCL will be in Bergen, Norway, in June 2003).  Updates to this web-site currently being processed include more entries under People, Online Articles, and the Glossary, a new Guest Editorial page, and a new heading to emphasise that this site is primarily concerned with tertiary (college and university) level education.

December 2001: The ICCE conference in Korea has been held.  Two conferences coming up are ICIER 2001 and CSCL 2002 - I hope to be at both!  The URL for the list of email discussion groups at UTS has changed.  Some more prominent researchers and practitioners in CSCL have been added to the People page.  The software lists generated by various search engines have been moved from the Miscellanea page to the Software Tools page.

November 2001: This What's New page has been added!  And the WebNet 2001 conference has been held.  Three new conferences - e-Learn, InSITE, and ICCE 2002 have been added to the conference page.  The CATE '99 site appears to have disappeared, as does George Jacobs' list of cooperative learning resources, so these links have been removed.  Ted Panitz' web site has moved, and changes here have been made to reflect the new URLs.  Hit counters have been added to each page, and a basic Search facility (see the button at the top of the page) is now operational.
